Professor Esperanza Martínez-Romero is a professor and head of the Genomic Ecology Program at the Genomic Sciences Center at UNAM. She studies the mutualistic symbioses of bacteria with plants and animals native to Mexico using metagenomic and functional genomics approaches. She was a pioneer in the molecular study of the nitrogen-fixing symbioses of beans and endophytes of corn and beans. She has given workshops and advice to agricultural producers. She described new species of bacteria from plants and insects from Mexico, some of them nitrogen-fixing bacteria. The strains that she obtained have been deposited in official bacterial collections and some of them are used as inoculants or biofertilizers in agriculture. She has received awards and prizes such as the National University Award, the Mexican Academy of Sciences Award and recently, the National Science Award of Mexico in December of 2019 and the UNESCO Prize for Women in Science in March 2020. She has been recognized as a highly cited Mexican scientist. She has published 216 articles in international journals, 23 book chapters and 11 genome announcements. She has received more than 20,400 citations to her published work, with an H-index of 80.

Prof. M. Suriyavathana, M.Sc., M.Phil., Ph.D graduated at Bharathiar University in 1991. She received her Doctoral degree in 2007 at the Bharathiar University. She obtained the position of Professor at Periyar University, Salem, Tamilnadu. To her credentials she has published 110 research articles(national & international) and 3 books (national & international). To her research expertise she has guided 37 M.Phil and 23 Doctoral candidates (Ph.D). She has delivered 7 plenary lectures in International conferences including at USA and UAE. She has organized 10 national and international conferences and seminars, participated and delivered 70 national and international conferences and seminars and she has received her patent, to her credit she has been awarded as Best Researcher /Women scientist in 2015, Outstanding researcher in Plant therapeutics and Clinical Biochemistry (2015), Indo Asian Research Excellence Award (2022) and Outstanding Scientist Award (2023).

Prof. Jacek Piatek studied at the Faculty of Medicine at the Medical University of Poznan, Poland. He worked from 1985 until 2018 at the Department of Physiology, University of Medical Sciences in Poznan, Poland. From 2011 to 2013, he was a visiting professor at the Institute of Rural Medicine in Lublin, Poland. Since 2018, he has been a professor at the Calisia University, Kalisz, Poland, where he was the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences for a year. He is now heading the Internal Disease Department of the University. His research is focused on the gut microbiota, probiotics, and synbiotics. He is the author of more than 50 peer-reviewed research publications and of two scientific books.

Euller Fernandes Lopes is a nurse and master’s student in Microbial Biology at the University of Brasília (UnB). He holds a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from UnB and completed postgraduate training in Higher Education Teaching. Currently, he is also pursuing a specialization in Applied Health Data Science at the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais. His research focuses on host–pathogen interactions, immunomodulation, and the effects of microbial metabolites on immune responses, combining molecular biology and microbiology. He has presented at national scientific events and coauthored publications. His master’s project investigates short-chain fatty acids in macrophages infected with Paracoccidioides brasiliensis.
