Miguel De Bruycker is a pioneer in European cyber defense and a senior national security official who has directed Belgium's national cyber strategy for nearly two decades. As the founding Director General of the Centre for Cybersecurity Belgium (CCB), he has led the nation's primary cybersecurity authority since August 2015, turning the country into one of the least cyber-vulnerable nations in the European Union.

De Bruycker began his career as a military officer, serving as an army company commander in Germany after graduating from the Royal Military Academy in Brussels. He later transitioned into the information technology branch of the Belgian Defence, where he managed critical network deployments across more than 20 national sites. Joining the General Intelligence and Security Service (GISS), he secured classified national networks and built Belgium's very first dedicated cyber defense unit.

Since 2008, De Bruycker and his specialized teams have overseen the mitigation of every major cyber incident impacting Belgium. In 2012, he authored the country's foundational National Cybersecurity Strategy, setting the stage for the creation of the CCB. He holds a master’s degree in Information Technologies from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and is a prominent voice on EU-wide collective cyber resilience.
