Pulmonary Heart Diseases

Pulmonary Heart Diseases:

Chronic lung conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and pulmonary hypertension can lead to a serious condition known as pulmonary heart diseases. When the blood vessels in the lungs become damaged or narrowed, the right side of the heart faces increased pressure, leading to strain and enlargement of the heart’s right ventricle. Over time, this can result in right heart failure. Pulmonary heart diseases often go unnoticed in the early stages, but with appropriate treatment, such as oxygen therapy, medications to reduce lung pressures, and lifestyle modifications, patients can manage their condition effectively. Addressing the root cause—often the underlying lung disease—remains crucial in improving outcomes.
