Dr. Rajendra D Badgaiyan is a Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Texas Health San Antonio and the Chief of Psychiatry at the South Texas Veterans Health Care System. Following his residency training at Harvard Medical School, he served on the faculties of Harvard Medical School, the State University of New York at Buffalo, and the University of Minnesota. His extensive leadership background includes chairing the psychiatry departments at Case Western Reserve University and an affiliate hospital of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Badgaiyan pioneered a breakthrough Neurotransmitter Imaging technique capable of mapping and quantifying live neurotransmitter release in the human brain during cognitive and behavioral tasks. His research on dopaminergic control and psychiatric neuropathology is funded by agencies like the NIH and the Department of Veterans Affairs. He is a recipient of Harvard Medical School's Solomon Prize and India's BK Anand National Research Prize. He has published more than 300 research papers and authored the book Neuroscience of the Nonconscious Mind.
