Photocatalysis

Photocatalysis:

Photocatalysis harnesses solar and artificial light to drive chemical reactions, providing environmentally friendly solutions for energy generation, pollution control, and sustainable chemical synthesis. The ability to utilize abundant light energy has made photocatalytic technologies increasingly attractive for addressing global environmental and energy challenges while reducing reliance on conventional energy-intensive processes.

Research efforts continue to improve semiconductor photocatalysts, visible-light-responsive materials, hybrid nanostructures, and plasmonic catalysts capable of delivering enhanced light absorption and higher quantum efficiency. Applications extend to water purification, air pollution control, hydrogen generation, carbon dioxide conversion, and organic pollutant degradation. Innovative reactor designs and material engineering are further expanding the practical deployment of photocatalytic systems.

This session invites presentations covering material development, photoreactor engineering, reaction mechanisms, environmental applications, and renewable energy technologies. Discussions will showcase interdisciplinary approaches that integrate chemistry, materials science, nanotechnology, and engineering to advance photocatalysis as a powerful tool for sustainable industrial and environmental innovation.
