David Miles is Professor of Financial Economics at Imperial College Business School and a member of the Budget Responsibility Committee of the Office for Budget Responsibility.
He is a member of the Commission of the Irish Central Bank. Between May 2009 and September 2015 he was a member of the Monetary Policy Committee at the Bank of England. He has worked for Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch as well as academic roles at Birkbeck College, London and Oxford University.
His current research focuses on policy issues connected with fiscal sustainability, financial stability and the setting of monetary policy. Some ideas on the evolution of unfairness in the distribution of resources are explored in recent work.
He was awarded CBE in the 2016 Queens New Year’s Honours.
