With more than 40 years of leadership experience across the private sector, federal government, and state government, Bhagowalia has built a distinguished career in information technology, cybersecurity, enterprise architecture, and organizational transformation. He has spent more than two decades in senior executive roles, including extensive service as a member of the Senior Executive Service (SES).

He became Assistant Commissioner and CIO of CBP in 2021 after serving as Deputy Assistant Commissioner and Deputy CIO beginning in 2018 and as Acting CIO prior to his permanent appointment.
