Dr. Eric Cioè-Peña, MD, MPH, is the founder and Vice President of the Center for Global Health at Northwell Health and an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. He earned his Doctor of Medicine with a concentration in Global Health from the University of Pennsylvania, an MPH in Humanitarian Assistance from the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, and an MBA from Hofstra University. Dr. Cioè-Peña has led healthcare systems development, trauma care, and disaster relief projects across Ecuador, Guyana, India, Ukraine, Botswana, and El Salvador, where he serves as the American College of Emergency Physicians' (ACEP) lead ambassador. During the pandemic, he acted as the Medical Director for a 108-bed COVID-19 alternate care facility in New York. For his leadership in bridging global health equity gaps through social initiatives, he was honored at the World Economic Forum as the Schwab Foundation's 2025 Corporate Social Innovator of the Year.
