Dr. Kjeld Harald Aij, PhD, MBA, MBB, is a seasoned executive in healthcare management and a registered nurse with over 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry. He currently serves as a Director at Erasmus MC, leading the Health Sciences and Dijkzigt themes, where he oversees a wide range of departments—including General Medicine, Surgery, and Dermatology—managing budgets exceeding €400 million annually and teams of over 1,500 FTEs. Dr. Aij holds an MBA from Business School Nederland and a PhD from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, specializing in the role of leadership, middle management, and Lean implementation within complex healthcare systems. Prior to his role at Erasmus MC, he served as the Director of Business Administration for the Acute Care Division at VUmc. He is recognized internationally for his expertise in operational excellence, quality and safety projects, and change management.
