Dr. Peter Thomas, PhD, FRCOphth, FBCS, is a consultant pediatric ophthalmologist and the Executive Director of Digital Development at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in London. He previously served as the trust's Chief Clinical Information Officer (CCIO) and Director of Digital Medicine, where he founded the UK’s first Department of Digital Medicine and was named "CCIO of the Year" at the 2022 Digital Health Awards. Dr. Thomas also serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Cascader Ltd, a Moorfields and UCL spin-out focused on developing clinical AI diagnostics for eye disease. Nationally, he has served as the digital clinical lead for eyecare at NHS England, supporting major remote monitoring and online hospital eyecare frameworks. He holds a medical degree from the University of Oxford, an MSc in Digital Health Leadership from Imperial College London, and completed his PhD in computational neuroscience at the University of Cambridge before working in R&D at IBM.
