Biography:

Eva Weicken is Chief Medical Officer at the Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute and Co-chair of the Working Group on Clinical Evaluation of AI for Health under the joint International Telecommunication Union (ITU)–World Health Organization initiative on AI for Health. She is a physician and digital health leader specializing in the clinical validation, regulation, and responsible implementation of artificial intelligence in healthcare.

At the Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute, Dr. Weicken provides medical leadership for research and innovation projects focused on AI-enabled healthcare technologies, digital diagnostics, and clinical decision support systems. She works closely with multidisciplinary teams of clinicians, engineers, researchers, and industry partners to ensure that emerging technologies are developed and evaluated in line with clinical needs, patient safety, and regulatory requirements.

As Co-chair of the ITU–WHO Working Group on Clinical Evaluation of AI for Health, Dr. Weicken contributes to the development of international frameworks and best practices for assessing the safety, effectiveness, and clinical performance of AI-based health technologies. Her work supports global efforts to establish standardized approaches for evaluating AI solutions before and after their adoption in clinical practice.
