Anne Forsyth is the Director, Hospital Data Transformation at the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI), where she leads initiatives to modernize Canada's hospital data systems, improve data quality, and enable more timely, connected, and actionable health information for clinicians, researchers, and policymakers. Her work focuses on advancing digital health through data standards, interoperability, governance, and innovation in hospital information systems.
Forsyth has more than 15 years of leadership experience in digital health across government, hospital, and healthcare organizations. Before assuming her current director role, she held several leadership positions at CIHI, including Manager of Data Standards, where she established the organization's centre of excellence for data standards and led the modernization of Canada's largest hospital administrative databases. She also played a key role in expanding emergency department data coverage and improving the timeliness of opioid overdose reporting.
She holds a Bachelor of Health Science from the University of Waterloo and a Master of Health Science in Health Administration from the University of Toronto. She is certified in health information and privacy, including CPHIMS-CA, HL7, and CIPP/C.
In addition to her work at CIHI, Forsyth is an active leader in Canada's digital health community. She has served on the Board of Directors of Digital Health Canada and regularly speaks at national and international conferences on topics such as health data transformation, clinical informatics, interoperability, digital literacy, and data governance.
