Azam Nurmohamed is a Consultant Nephrologist and Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) at Amsterdam UMC. He combines clinical expertise in nephrology with leadership in digital health and clinical informatics, helping to drive the digital transformation of one of Europe's leading academic medical centers.
As CMIO, Dr. Nurmohamed provides clinical leadership for the development and implementation of digital healthcare strategies, ensuring that technology supports high-quality, patient-centered care. He works closely with clinicians, hospital executives, IT professionals, and researchers to optimize electronic health records, clinical decision support systems, interoperability, and the use of healthcare data to improve clinical outcomes and operational efficiency.
Alongside his leadership responsibilities, Dr. Nurmohamed continues to practice as a nephrologist, with clinical interests in kidney disease, chronic kidney disease management, and internal medicine. His dual role enables him to bridge frontline clinical practice with the design and deployment of digital solutions that enhance healthcare delivery.
