Danielle Charlotte Belgrave is Vice President of AI and Machine Learning (AI/ML) at GSK, where she leads AI and machine learning initiatives for clinical development. Her work focuses on applying advanced AI, statistical machine learning, and large-scale health data to accelerate drug discovery and development, optimize clinical trials, and advance precision medicine.
Dr. Belgrave is an internationally recognized computer scientist and machine learning researcher whose career spans academia and industry. Before joining GSK in 2023, she held senior research leadership positions at Google DeepMind, Microsoft Research, and Imperial College London. Across these roles, she developed machine learning methods to understand disease progression, identify patient subgroups, and personalize healthcare interventions using multimodal clinical and biological data.
Originally from Trinidad and Tobago, Dr. Belgrave earned a BSc in Mathematics and Statistics from the London School of Economics and Political Science, an MSc in Statistics from University College London, and a PhD in Machine Learning for Healthcare from the University of Manchester. Her doctoral research focused on probabilistic causal models for childhood asthma and allergies, laying the foundation for her work in disease heterogeneity and personalized medicine.
