Gastrointestinal Pathology

Gastrointestinal Pathology:

Gastrointestinal pathology is the branch of medical science focused on diagnosing diseases and disorders of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract through the examination of tissue samples. Pathologists analyze biopsy specimens obtained during procedures like endoscopy or surgery to identify abnormalities such as inflammation, infections, tumors (benign or malignant), and autoimmune conditions affecting the esophagus, stomach, intestines, liver, pancreas, and gallbladder. They use various techniques including histopathology, immunohistochemistry, and molecular testing to provide accurate diagnoses and guide treatment decisions. Gastrointestinal pathology plays a critical role in understanding disease mechanisms, prognosis, and developing personalized treatment plans for
patients with GI disorders.
