Gastrointestinal Pharmacotherapy

Gastrointestinal Pharmacotherapy:

Gastrointestinal pharmacotherapy focuses on medications used to treat various gastrointestinal disorders, including acid-related disorders (like GERD and peptic ulcers), inflammatory bowel diseases (such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and gastrointestinal infections. Medications include proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), H2-receptor antagonists, antacids, antibiotics (for infections like H. pylori), immunosuppressants, anti- inflammatory drugs, and medications targeting motility and pain management. Treatment goals include reducing symptoms, healing mucosal damage, preventing complications, and improving quality of life. Pharmacotherapy is often combined with lifestyle modifications and dietary changes
for comprehensive management of gastrointestinal conditions.
