Neuroinflammation and Neurological Disorders

Neuroinflammation and Neurological Disorders:

Neuroinflammation and Neurological Disorders:

Neuroinflammation is a critical response of the central nervous system (CNS) to injury, infection, or disease, and it plays a significant role in various neurological disorders. It involves the activation of immune cells, primarily microglia and astrocytes, in response to pathogens, damaged neurons, or other harmful stimuli in the brain. While acute neuroinflammation is a natural protective mechanism, chronic or dysregulated neuroinflammation can contribute to the development and progression of several neurological disorders.

Neuroinflammation is mediated by several cellular and molecular players, including:
Microglia
Astrocytes
Cytokines and Chemokines
Blood-Brain Barrier (BBB)
