Cancer Stem Cell

Cancer Stem Cell:

Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are a subset of cells within tumors that exhibit characteristics similar to normal stem cells, including self-renewal and differentiation capabilities. They are believed to drive tumor initiation, progression, and resistance to therapy. CSCs have the ability to regenerate the entire tumor cell population and are implicated in cancer recurrence and metastasis. Understanding CSCs is crucial for developing targeted therapies that can effectively eliminate
these resilient cells, thereby improving treatment outcomes and reducing the likelihood of cancer relapse. Research into CSCs aims to uncover their molecular mechanisms and vulnerabilities to devise more effective cancer treatments.
