Plant Pathology & Disease Resistance

Plant Pathology & Disease Resistance:

Plant pathology focuses on the study of plant diseases caused by fungi, bacteria, viruses, nematodes, and other pathogens that threaten agricultural productivity and food security. Understanding plant-pathogen interactions is essential for developing effective disease management strategies and improving crop health.

Recent advances in molecular diagnostics, resistance breeding, genomics, and integrated disease management have strengthened efforts to develop disease-resistant crop varieties while minimizing the use of chemical pesticides.

This session will highlight emerging research in plant pathology, disease diagnostics, host-pathogen interactions, resistance mechanisms, integrated disease management, and innovative approaches to protecting crops from biotic stresses.
