Micro biota Diversity and Function

Micro biota Diversity and Function:

Micro biota diversity refers to the variety and abundance of microorganisms that inhabit the human gastrointestinal tract. A diverse gut micro biota is considered a hallmark of good health, as different microbial species perform specialized functions that contribute to digestion, nutrient metabolism, and protection against harmful pathogens. Maintaining microbial diversity is essential for preserving the stability and resilience of the gut ecosystem.

The functions of the gut micro biota extend far beyond digestive processes. These microbial communities are involved in the production of vitamins, metabolism of dietary compounds, regulation of immune responses, and maintenance of the intestinal barrier. Disruptions in micro biota diversity, often referred to as symbiosis, have been associated with a range of conditions including inflammatory bowel disease, obesity, diabetes, allergies, and other chronic health disorders.

This session will examine the factors that influence micro biota composition and diversity, including diet, lifestyle, genetics, medications, and environmental exposures. Participants will gain insights into the latest research on microbial function, host-micro biome interactions, and emerging strategies aimed at restoring and maintaining a healthy and balanced gut micro biome for improved health outcomes.
