Maternal Mortality

Maternal Mortality:

Maternal mortality refers to the death of a woman during pregnancy, childbirth, or within 42 days after the end of pregnancy, from any cause related to or aggravated by the pregnancy or its management. It is a critical indicator of the overall health and well-being of a population, particularly in relation to the quality of healthcare systems, access to maternal care, and public health policies. Maternal mortality is a key issue in maternal and child health, with significant global health implications.

Maternal mortality is a critical global health issue, especially in regions with limited access to healthcare. However, many maternal deaths are preventable through access to quality healthcare, timely medical interventions, and improved maternal health education. Efforts to reduce maternal mortality should focus on strengthening healthcare systems, ensuring equitable access to care, and addressing the socioeconomic, cultural, and geographic factors that put women at risk.
